Source: CNN
Thank you in advance for your help!
On Wednesday, March 12, 2023, Malawi was hit by Cyclone Freddy. The cyclone devastated crops, livestock, houses, and infrastructure. At least 553,614 people are displaced in southern Malawi, many of whom are sheltering in 543 camp sites. According to Malawi’s Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), by March 21, 507 deaths had been reported and 537 people were still unaccounted for. The numbers continue to rise.
The damage has been catastrophic. The cyclone came at a bad time, when many those affected had almost run out of food in their houses, before it struck. It is estimated that 3.8 million people in Malawi are facing severe acute food shortages.
The need is urgent! Advance Church is working with Sam Kawale, Malawi’s Minister of Agriculture, and E-3 Worldwide, one of Malawi’s local disaster and humanitarian relief partners, to raise $50,000 which will provide over 600 families with bags of maize/flour, blankets, cooking oil, buckets, packets of beans, salt and sugar.
Donate today! We ask that you give what you can. No gift is too small. As you may be aware, Advance Church has had a very close missions relationship with Malawi for many years! Thank you for your support and partnering with us to bring aid and relief to our brothers and sisters in Malawi. Please share this with your network.
